EDIT: I am no longer voulenteering with ShoresToFlames, but their group is still active and going strong! :) Check out their Facebook page here.
We got there early to set up the booth. I brought a couple things, including my mermaid banner that my awesome cousin, Goldie, gave me for graduation. Previously, I planned on purchasing the same pool we had here for photoshoots and other projects, and today solidifies that it's a good product and will be a good investment. Pretty cheap, too. :) Looking forward to getting one for myself soon and all the projects that come with it.
The pool was SOOOO cold. Oh my gosh, it was miserable, but I tried my best to put on a happy face and bear it. One of the dear pirates, Emily, had to keep running back and forth into the church to get buckets of steaming water to pour into the pool to try to warm it up. It did help, but it was only bearable after four or five buckets, and it was still super chilly, so the buckets continued all throughout the day. If she hadn't have done that, I'd be a mermaid Popsicle. Emily, you're my hero!!! Hahaha :)
Another one of my fairy festival friends, LuLu, joined us with her husband George and her adorable ball python, Monty (ha!). Monty was very popular and even hung out with us in the pool for a bit. It was great to see them, too! :D
Little sequins stuck on my face :) |
After about half an hour, mermaids Daphne and Seafae Annette got in the pool with me, which was great. :D I got some good food, I don't know what it was but it smelled sooooo good! It was rice and chicken smothered in some sauce, and it was delicious. I had to get out after about an hour after the other mermaids joined me, it was too cold and there was a storm rolling in.
Unfortunately, I totally forgot this was a wet event and neglected to bring a change of dry clothes. Whoopsie! It was super cold after I got out of the pool and stood around, so we went to the little thrift shop under the church where the festival was held where I bought a dry dress to wear (and a lace blouse to wear under it because it was very, very low cut). Besides the dress and its lining top, I also picked up a cute purple tank top for casual wear, and a work blouse, which serves double purpose: for a photoshoot modeling work pants, and to wear to actual work. The dress was only $2, and each of the tops were $1. $5 for the lot was a wonderful deal, I paid more for the food! Hahaha, I was very happy! :D The dress and the undershirt will be going back in the donate bag when I get home, but the two shirts will be added to my personal wardrobe. :)
It was a fun event, and it was really nice to spend some time with Amy and Gareth too :) Thanks so much for spending the day with me, thanks to the ShorestoFlames tribe for inviting me to the event, and to all the other people who made the Baltimore Fairy Festival special!

We don't like the cold! Let's get back inside with some hot cocoa. :)
