Visit with Stephen: Shortish photoshoot blurb

Hello readers! Thanks for keeping up with my adventures. :) I've already made three posts about how the trip went: what I brought and what I brought back (including THE FISH MASK), our fun days at the museums, and our official engagement post. Now, here's a little blurb on some stuff we did photoshoot-wise that I wanted to share. :)

I ordered another photography studio and had it shipped to Stephen so I didn't have to pack up and try to ship or travel with mine. Trying to bring the one I use would have been a massive pain in the butt, for close to the same price. No thanks. It's a great investment though, a one time purchase, that will stay down there and live with Stephen for future visits and photoshoots.

We had plans for a variety of outdoor photoshoots, but alas, it rained very heavily for the first four or so days, so some of our plans were spoiled. However, we utilized the studio background for a ton of different indoor shoots! Some of them didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped due to a strange lighting situation that couldn't be helped, but SO many more did turn out nicely, I'm very happy with what we got.  :)  I wanted to do some dynamic lighting shots and they turned out awesome. Stephen is a great photographer and it's wonderful to work with him. We have a couple shoots than we plan to re-take next time we get together, so the concepts and themes that didn't get to shine to their full potential this time will be given a second chance then.

Twice we went out to a wonderful lake and beach at a recreation area. It was SO beautiful! One day we went just to take pictures in my black tail (some with the fish mask), and we got some amazing photos. There was also a playground there unoccupied, and Stephen suggested we get some mermaid photos on the swings, which I thought was a neat and very creative idea. Afterwards we played on the swings for a bit, which was really nice. :) He knows me too well!  The other day we went to the lake was mainly for funsies at the beach (in my blue tail), but we got some photos then too. The beach was fun! Just the right temperature.

Oh, and while we were at the lake, Stephen took this GORGEOUS photo. It's one of my all-time favourite photos in my modeling portfolio and I'm in love with it. I'm going to look into getting it made into a postcard for the recreation area where it was taken.

Another photoshoot in my black tail was the captured mermaid shoot. This one was mainly Stephen's idea, and I tweaked some details. A ton of work went into this shoot, and I was really sad some of the little details didn't show up on camera too well. Stephen painstakingly hand sewed five or six fishing hooks onto my tail in a way that wouldn't damage the fabric, then strung the hooks with fishing line and bobbers that floated in the tub. He also picked out some green ribbon at a craft store to look like seaweed or other aquatic greenery. I couldn't find any netting in stores, and was getting a bit concerned because that was a large part of the shoot, but luckily, I found and ordered the pictured netting last minute off of Amazon (thank goodness for 2 day Prime shipping!) and it was perfect!

The Doritos got soggy and gross after a couple minutes, and turned the water orangey-yellow. Gross! Hahaha, it was a fun shoot though, worth it. :)

So yeah! We took over 1,600 photos, and at the time of writing this, I still have to go through about 500. We're already planning what shoots we're going to do during the next visit, which, assuming everything goes well, should be within the next few months.

I had a GREAT time with Stephen in Oklahoma, and we got some epic photos. Can't wait until we see each other next <3

Love,
Queen Werandra
